Aerospace Engineering Project Manager
We are seeking a Project Manager to be part of a fast-paced project team which is developing spaceflight environmental control and life support systems. Typical activities include, organizing, planning and leading all aspects of a project, plan and monitor technical work activities, and develop and integrate plans and budgets.
Organize, plan, and lead all aspects of projects including all aspects of technical work scope: schedule related to milestones, deliveries and resource assignments; cost and budget planning and expenses
Plan and monitor technical work activities by establishing realistic plan of activities and resources, anticipating and mitigating risks and problems, throughout all phases of a project which could include requirements and systems engineering, product development and test, manufacturing and fabrication, validation/verification and acceptance testing, and post-delivery operations and customer service
Develop and integrate plans and budgets for proposals and projects
Maintain technical proficiency in the project area to be able to manage and be insightful of customer needs, guide internal project efforts, understand when risks are eminent and progress is slow or nonconforming, and be proactive in mitigation of risks, creating niche product capabilities and technical value that can lead to future products and projects.
Ensure deliveries are made on time and meet/exceed customer expectations
Manage project to assure that capabilities and resources are available
Maintain project budget, ensure that project is meeting budget
Track and report projects on performance, schedule, and budget objectives, to Program and/or Business Unit Managers and customer on a regular basis.
Facilitate and trouble shoot potential and existing problems
Develop and implement recovery plans for off-schedule and unanticipated events
This position requires an intimate knowledge of project management tools and procedures, as well as the technical ability to guide project work efforts and priorities. A Bachelors Degree in a technical/engineering discipline, with a master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with 10 years experience in a high-technology company, with aerospace specific experience preferred.
